GCOOL JOINS HANDS WITH THE HANOI WOMEN’S UNION TO SUPPORT FLOOD VICTIMS
With a spirit of solidarity and compassion, GCool partnered with the Hanoi Women’s Union in a visit to flood-affected areas to deliver gifts and support to those in need. This journey not only demonstrates practical care and assistance for individuals facing hardship but also highlights GCool‘s commitment to contributing to community initiatives. Through this effort, the company aims to spread kindness and unity, helping people come together to overcome the challenges posed by natural disasters.
Severe Damage from Typhoon Yagi
According to a report from the People’s Committee of Lào Cai Province, Typhoon Yagi and its aftermath caused severe destruction in the region. As of September 14, the storm and subsequent floods resulted in 119 deaths, 49 missing persons, and 84 injuries. Floodwaters inundated and damaged 9,629 homes, causing landslides that blocked roads and isolated 132 villages across 25 communes. In addition, over 2,951 hectares of rice, crops, and aquaculture were destroyed, along with the deaths of 35,245 livestock and poultry. The estimated economic loss is in the thousands of billions of đồng.
Typhoon Yagi also damaged 926 district and communal roads, 159 irrigation systems, and numerous water supply facilities, schools, and hospitals, many of which were submerged or severely damaged. Numerous areas are still facing a shortage of clean water and telecommunications outages, making daily life and relief efforts more challenging.
Joining Forces to Overcome the Disaster
In the spirit of solidarity and compassion, GCool, a joint-stock company, launched a fundraising campaign to support people severely affected by Typhoon Yagi (Typhoon No. 3). The campaign called on GCool employees to contribute money and essential supplies, aiming to ease the difficulties faced by those in the flood-stricken areas.
Together with the Hanoi Women’s Union, a GCool charity team traveled to two of the most severely impacted areas: Thịnh Trường commune in Bát Sát district and Nậm Lúc commune in Bắc Hà district, Lào Cai province. The team personally delivered essential supplies to struggling families, visited and comforted patients heavily affected at Lào Cai General Hospital, and supported disadvantaged students at the Lào Cai Ethnic Boarding School. The team also collaborated with the officers of the Thịnh Trường Border Guard in efforts to manage post-storm recovery.
The relief team coordinated with the Lào Cai Women’s Union, the Bát Sát district authorities, and the Nậm Lúc Youth Union to distribute aid and provide encouragement in Thịnh Trường and Nậm Lúc communes, as well as at the Thịnh Trường Border Guard, Lào Cai General Hospital, and the Lào Cai Ethnic Boarding School. The donations included cash, traditional sticky rice cakes (bánh chưng), mooncakes, sausages, dried food, preserved meat, milk, towels, medicine, clothing, blankets, and books to help students continue their studies.
In addition to supporting the people of Lào Cai, the team also sent 30 packages of books and clothes to the residents of Yên Bái. In total, the monetary value and gifts amounted to over 230 million đồng, benefiting around 500 people. These practical gifts provided much-needed relief to those facing difficult circumstances and helped support essential aspects of daily life.
